Bertens Augustinus
Country

Education
  • MSc in Applied Physics with a focus on turbulent flows (2015, Eindhoven University of Technology)
  • BSc in Applied Physics with a minor in Computer Science (2011, Eindhoven University of Technology)
Curriculum Vitae
ESR5 - Drop dynamics in turbulent flows
Objectives
  • Experimental measurement of the acceleration and relative velocity of micrometric droplets in warm clouds in situ at the research station Schneefernerhaus.
  • Numerical scheme capable of reproducing the experimental results.
Expected Results
  • New experimental data on the dynamical behaviour of drops in turbulent flows found in warm clouds.
  • Simultaneous development of a numerical model that would examine the same system, but over a larger range of relevant parameters, in order to better assess the importance of the critical environmental variables on the process.
Planned secondment(s)
  • UFS (Zugspitze)      Month 18 and 30: 2x1 months to perform the experiments
  • POLITO (Torino)      Month 17: infield drop measurement and drop dynamics modelling
  • UW (Warsaw)         Month 29: experiments on the dynamics of droplets
Comments

My education is in applied physics, but next to that I've always been interested in technical thingies in general, and computers and IT in particular. I've worked as a network and HPC administrator for a few years, so I also have a strong background in that.

In my free time I also like to program, tinker with electronics, or do some home improvement. If I'm not doing either of those, you might find me climbing or bouldering.
